John W. Phillips

Mr. John W. Phillips, 82, of Mill Road, Schellsburg, died at 5:58 AM, Monday, November 26th, 2012 at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Phillips was born in Schellsburg on Monday, September 22, 1930,  the son of the late Francis and Florence (Ranker) Phillips.

On October 22, 1954, he married Joann (Carson) Phillips.  In addition to his wife he is survived by Son- Douglas J. Phillips, Rehoboth, DE; Daughter- Sheri D. wife of  Mike Brady, Shanksville; Sister-in-Law- Ernestine Phillips, Bedford; Sister-in-Law- Doris Jean Phillips, Bedford; Grandsons -  J.J. & Sam; Close Friend- Marvin Roffman, Rehoboth, DE.  He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Phillips and Francis Phillips, Jr. and by a sister, Dorothy Diehl

John was a member of the Bedford Presbyterian Church.  After 15 years of employment, he retired from Hedstrom in Bedford where he worked as a die setter.  He had previously worked as a route salesman from Harris-Boyer Company in Johnstown.

John as an avid square dancer and enjoyed traveling with the dance groups.

A Funeral Service will be held at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 29th, 2012 with Rev. Doug Friant officiating.

Entombment will be held Bedford County Memorial Park.

Friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the funeral home.
