John S. Diehl

November 22, 1949 — March 9, 2020

John S. Diehl, 70, of Crissman Road, New Paris died Monday, March 9, 2020 at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown.

Mr. Diehl was born in Manns Choice on November 22, 1949 son of the late Paul R. and Helen M. (Bardell) Diehl.

On June 21, 1969 John married Nancy J. (Wayde)  Diehl.

In addition to his wife he is survived by Son- John, Jr. husband of  Mareda (Harclerode) Diehl; Son- Matthew Diehl and Companion Kerry Howsare: Grandchildren Stephanie Diehl, Megan Queen, John Diehl III, Matthew W. Diehl (Walter), Rylee Howsare, Matthew W. Diehl (William); Great-grandchildren Ella Sabo and Blake Queen. Brother- Paul Terry husband of Kitra (Kornosky) Diehl, LaPorte, TX; Brother- Mark E. husband of Samantha (Cooper) Diehl, New Paris. John was preceded in death by Sisters: Paula (Patty) and Mary, Great Grandson- Randy Jay Reffner and Niece- Laurie Cray.

He was a 5 million mile truck driver for 45 years most recently with UPS Freight where he retired.

John was a member of Masonic Lodge #320 of Bedford and Harrisburg Consitory. He was an E4 in the Navy and served time on the flight deck of the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt during Vietnam Era. John was a member of the Pleasantville VFW Post 9219 where he was a board member.

He was a member of Chestnut Ridge Independent Fellowship Church New Paris.

John's hobbies included hunting, cars, tractors, model building, auctions and car shows at Pleasantville Fire Hall and spending time with family and picnics at turkey roasts in Pavia.

Friends will be received Wednesday, March 11, 2020 from 2-4 and 7-9PM at Chestnut Ridge Independent Fellowship Church.

A Funeral Service will be held  at Chestnut Ridge Independent Fellowship Church, New Paris at 11:00AM on Thursday, March 12, 2020 with Pastor Dan Olham officiating.

Interment at Fishertown Cemetery.

Military Rights accorded by Fort Bedford Honor Guard.
