Mrs. Joan H. Claycomb, 84, of Fish Hatchery Road, passed away Saturday, February 25th, 2017.

Mrs. Claycomb was born in New Paris on Wednesday, September 28, 1932,  the daughter of the late John and Hazel (Blackburn) Slack.

She was married to James F. Claycomb.  In addition to her husband she is survived by Son- Jeffrey J. Claycomb, Bedford; Grandson- Breton James Claycomb, Bedford; Granddaughter-  Erin Elise Claycomb, Germantown, MD; Granddaughter-  Amber Marie Claycomb, Bedford; Sister- Nancy wife of Richard Clark, New Paris and numerous nieces.  She was preceded in death by her brother, Jack Slack and by her daughter-in-law, Peggy (Kohler) Claycomb.

Joan was a member of the Dunnings Creek Church of the Brethren.  She was a 1950 graduate of Schellsburg-Napier High School.  Joan was a retired clerical supervisor for the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare.  She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, caring for her cats and collecting Longaberger Baskets and glass figurines.  Joan was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt and she will be dearly missed.

A Funeral Service will be held at Jack H. Geisel Funeral Home, Inc, Pleasantville at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, March 1st, 2017 with Pastor Eleanor Fix officiating.

Interment will be held at Bedford County Memorial Park

Friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Geisel Funeral Home in Pleasantville.
