Jennie C. (Feathers) Carney

Mrs. Jennie C. Carney, 94, of E. Pitt St., Bedford, died at 3:30 AM, Thursday, September 26th, 2013 at Pennknoll Village.

Mrs. Carney was born in Roaring Spring on Sunday, May 4, 1919,  she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Sadie (Dodson) Feathers.

On March 24, 1940, she married Charles W. Carney.  They were married for almost 63 years at the time of his death on March 8, 2003.

She is survived by  Son- Randy L. husband of  Patricia (Cable) Carney, Tarpon Springs, FL; Daughter- Rita L. wife of  William Unger, Colorado Springs, CO; Daughter- Patricia C. widow of  Wayne Sarver, Landsdale; Son- Harry "Frank" Carney, Bedford; Daughter- Sherry D. wife of  Bernard Sloan, Pottstown. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Steven Sloan and was the last surviving member of her immediate family, preceded in death by the following siblings; Ethel Marie Johnson, James Jessie Feather, Werren Elias Feathers, Lloyd Gilbert Feather, Marian Erdine Berkheimer, Donald Harold Feathers and Wilford Dodson.

Jennie was of the Methodist faith and attended the Bedford United Methodist Church.  She was a charter member of the Bedford Lionesses, a member of the Bedford Legion Ladies Auxiliary and a member of R.S.V.P.  Jennie was a homemaker, and before her sight failed, enjoyed crafting, sewing and baking.  She was a loving & caring person, devoted wife, mother and grandmother and a kind & compassionate neighbor and friend.  She will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A funeral service will be held at Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 30th, 2013 with Mr. Jim Miller officiating.

Interment will be held at Holsinger's Church Cemetery, New Enterprise

Friends are invited to call on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM and on Monday from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
