Mr. Jay R. Walter, 86, of White Pine Road, Osterburg, died Thursday, June 15th, 2017 at his home.
Mr. Walter was born in E. St. Clair Twp. on Saturday, June 6, 1931, son of the late Bruce E. and Effie (Weyant) Walter.
On September 12, 1957, he married Esther (Spearing) Walter. She preceded him in death on July 11, 2011.
He is survived by Daughter- Elizabeth A. wife of Steven R. Koontz, Osterburg; Grandson- Phillip husband of Chelciee (Fischer) Walter; Great Granddaughter- Rachel Grace; Brother- Hubert Walter, Osterburg. He was preceded in death by two infant brothers, an infant sister, and three brothers, Sheldon, Chalmer, and Waug.
Jay served as a Corporal in the US Army during the Korean War. He was employed for 25 years by the PA Turnpike Commission at the Kegg Maintenance Building in Manns Choice. Jay was a member of the Trinity Reformed Church in Osterburg and a member of the Bedford American Legion Post 113. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and he will be missed.
A Funeral Service will be held at Jack H. Geisel Funeral Home, Inc, Pleasantville at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 17th, 2017 with Pastor Daniel Stultz officiating.
Interment will be held at Osterburg Community Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call on Saturday from 11:00 - 1:00 PM at the Geisel Funeral Home in Pleasantville.
