Janet Watkins Robel passed away peacefully on April 21st in Cary, North Carolina. Mrs Robel was currently living in Cary, NC, formerly of Gaithersburg, MD and Johnstown, PA. She was born March 26, 1928 in Pleasantville, PA daughter of Sarah Eliza (Lydia) Hahn and John M. Watkins, both deceased.
Survived by daughter, Victoria Robel Hatfield, wife of Galen Hatfield living in Cary, NC; son, Gregory Rayford Robel, partner of Kimberly Cummings, living in Ft Myers, FL and son-in-law Carl H June and wife Lisa A Speicher, living in Philadelphia. Also survived by five grandchildren: Ronald K June, married to Jamie Hartman living in Bozeman, MT; Rayford Robel June, married to Lauren Cavanaugh living in Hummelstown, PA; Amanda Robel Hatfield living in San Francisco, CA; Sarah Eliza June living in Boston, MA; Bennett Robel Hatfield living in Cary, NC and step grandchildren Albert Behnke living in Chicago, IL, Christopher Speicher and Kristen June, living in Philadelphia, PA. Also survived by great grandchildren Jackson, Everett and Cynthia Coraleigh June, living in MT and Calista Lynn June, living in PA. Preceded in death by husband, Rayford A. Robel; daughter Cynthia, wife of Carl H June; daughter-in-law, Kimberly Behnke, wife of Gregory Robel; sisters Grace Watkins Michael and Melba Watkins Snyder and brothers Ralph and Walter Watkins.
Mrs Robel graduated from Pleasantville High School, Pleasantville and York Business Schools and attended Dickinson College, Carlisle, PA. She was a current member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), Montgomery County, MD; Daughters of the Nile of the Almas Shrine Club, Washington, DC and JOY Group, Cary, NC. Past member of the Board of Trustees of Conemaugh Memorial Hospital, Johnstown, PA; Past Worthy Matron of Johnstown Order of the Eastern Star; Past President of Conemaugh Memorial Hospital Auxiliary; Past President of Potomac Rotary Inner Wheel of Potomac, MD; Past member JOY Council First United Methodist Church, Cary, NC. Member of First United Methodist Church of Cary, NC and former Member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Gaithersburg, MD and Mt Calvary Lutheran Church, Johnstown, PA.
Memorial Service to be held at Jack H. Geisel Funeral Home in Pleasantville on Saturday, August 20th at 11:00am. The memorial service will be followed by a graveside service and interment at the Pleasantville Cemetery.
Friends are invited to greet the family at the funeral home in Pleasantville from 10:00 – 11:00 am.
