Mr. James F. Hood, 77, formerly of E. 2nd St., Everett went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 14th, 2015 from Homewood at Martinsburg
Mr. Hood was born in Brush Valley on Friday, April 22, 1938, the son of the late Miller C. and Agnes (Campbell) Hood.
On September 5, 1956, he married his high school sweetheart, Beverly A. (Coote) Hood.
In addition to his wife he is survived by Daughter- Susan wife of Stephen J. McCahan, Everett; Daughter- Donna wife of Randy Barber, Everett; Daughter- Linda wife of Mark Clark, Clearville; Daughter- Karen wife of Tim Troutman, White Oak; Son- James husband of Diana (Clark) Hood, Everett; Son- William husband of Shellie (Potts) Hood, Artemas; Sister- Jane V. Hood, Everett. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, Steve McCahan (Ashley), Karen McCahan Henry, Kevin McCahan (Sara), Adam Barber (Julie), Kate Barber, Jason Clark, Alex Clark (Allie), Andrew Troutman (Stephanie), Jennifer Troutman Fox (Evan), Daniel Troutman, Kristen Hood Shawl (George), Alicia Hood Grimes (Wesley), Matthew Hood, Michael Hood, William Hood, Spencer Hood & Mary Elizabeth Hood, and 8 great grandchildren, Ella McCahan, Lydia McCahan, Eliza McCahan, George Shawl, Hailey Shawl, Layla Shawl, Isaiah Henry & Grace Henry.
Jim was a member of the Bedford Presbyterian Church. He graduated from Everett Southern Joint High School in 1956 and then graduated in 1960 from the University of Pittsburgh with double degrees in both science and social studies. He went on to earn a Master's Degree in Education and a Principal and Superintendent Certification. Mr. Hood taught for the Bedford School District for 39 years. In addition to his teaching duties, he also held several administrative and coaching positions. Jim enjoyed hunting and fishing and sharing his love of nature with his children and grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at Jack H. Geisel Funeral Home, Everett at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 18th, 2015 with Rev. Douglas Friant officiating.
Interment will be held at Everett Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call on Thursday from 5:00 - 8:00 PM and on Friday from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at the funeral home in Everett.
