James A. Chamberlain “Pappy Jim”, 88, of Messiah Church Road, Bedford, died Thursday, December 9, 2021, with family by his side at home.
He was born January 25, 1933, in Everett, PA, the son of the late Thomas and Naomi (Edwards) Chamberlain.
On April 19, 1958, in Winchester, VA, he was united in marriage to Elaine R. Heller.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters- Lindy and Tim McDonald, Lisa and Allan Persavich, Lori and Jeffery Boyer, Lexie and Rick Reish and Linda Suter.
He is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Jamie, Jordan, Allissa, Landon, Alex, Shane, Morgan, Ian, Cole and Nick, as well as 3 great grandchildren: Jack, Logan and Alice.
James is survived by sister- Shirley Kendall and was preceded in death by siblings- Carl Chamberlain, Betty Grimes and Joyce Chamberlain.
He retired from Kennametal after 40 years. James was an avid hunter with friends Rusty, Tyler, Tom, Curt and Alan.
James was everyone’s Father-Figure, Friend or Pap. He loved his family very much.
The family thanks Janet, Melanie, Judy, Shay, Patty, Bonnie, Elisha, Julie, Waneta, Gail and Deb for the extra special care given. Also thank you to Conemaugh Home Health and Grange Hospice.
James was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and was the oldest surviving member of Bedford County Sportsman Association.
There will be a Celebration of Life, honoring Jim at a later date.
