Mr. James R. Calhoun 78, of Shaffer Mountain Road, New Paris went to be with his Lord and Savior surrounded by his family on Thursday, October 8th, 2015 at UPMC Altoona Hospital.

Mr. Calhoun was born in Bedford Township on Sunday, June 6, 1937,  the son of the late Chalmer and Evelyn (Hixon) Calhoun.

On August 15, 1960, he married Patricia A. (Davis) Calhoun.

In addition to his wife he is survived by Daughter- Tina M. wife of  Phillip Miller, New Paris; Son- James C. husband of  Jody L. (Marks) Calhoun, Osterburg; Daughter- Theresa C. wife of  James Hicks, Greensboro, NC; Daughter- Tonya C. wife of  Jeffrey Shanberg, Whitsett, NC; Daughter- Melissa S. wife of  Michael A. Diehl, New Enterprise; Grandchildren- Phillip Jr., Shawn, Jessie, Janelle, Jaden, Alek, Kylor & Caleb and 11 great grandchildren; Sister- Ethel Johnson, Bedford; Sister- Dorothy Merritts, Wilmington, NC; Sister- Mabel Ritchey, Centerville; Brother- Skyles Calhoun, Bedford; Sister- Treva May, Bedford.

Jim was a member of the Real Life Church in Bedford and served in the Merchant Marines and the US Air Force.  He was employed in the maintenance department at SAC Motors and also worked as an auctioneer.  Jim was a member of the Teamsters Local #391 in Greensboro, NC.  He enjoyed golfing and cooking for his family.  Jim's life centered around his love for Christ and his love for his family.  He never met a stranger and always had an encouraging word.  Jim was loved and cherished by his family and he will be greatly missed for the wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend he has always been.

A Funeral Service will be held at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 13th, 2015 with Pastor Brian Swain officiating.

Interment will be held at  Schellsburg Cemetery.

Friends are invited to call on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the funeral home in Schellsburg.
