Jack F. Shoemaker, 90, of Bedford, Pennsylvania went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 3, 2024 at his home with his wife by his side.

Jack was born at the family farm in Friends Cove, on May 27, 1933, son of the late Kenneth K. and Marian (Beegle) Shoemaker.

On June 2, 1956, he married his wife Barbara (Triplett), celebrating 67 years together.

He is survived by nephew- Ken husband of Joan Porter, of Rainsburg; niece- Linda wife of Bill McCauley, son- Ed McCauley and family, of York; brother-in-law- Bill husband of Thelma Triplette, and daughters: Trina, Trinette, Tracy, Tonya, and families, of Schellsburg; sister-in-law- Ingrid Tripplett, of Camp Hill; and daughter: Debra and sons, of Harrisburg; our special friend Terrie Shipley and husband Amos, of Pittsburgh and their daughter Cassidy. Jack is preceded in death by brother- Eugene and wife Liz Shoemaker and sister- Evelyn Porter and husband Bill; brother-in-law: Bob Triplett; nephew- Jamie Triplett and many furkids.

Jack was a member of Bedford Presbyterian Church. He graduated from Bedford High School, in the class of 1951.

Jack served his country in the United States Army from 1952-1954, serving in Korea and Japan.

Jack always loved driving, starting at a young age, on the farm with tractors, then to a jeep, to a small truck which led to driving tractor and trailers until 1995.  He then drove charter bus for Bollman Charter Busses until 2017 and Cart until 2011; he was involved with his own harness horses in the late 1960's and early 1970's. He was a life member of the VFW and 70 years as an American Legion member.

Jack didn't have any hobbies but he was a great fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and at one time was a NASCAR fan. He had a great sense of humor and wit. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

A visitation will be held Monday, May 13, 2024 from 10 AM to the hour of service, at Geisel-Styer Funeral Homes, Bedford.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 13, 2024, at 11 AM at Geisel-Styer Funeral Homes, Bedford with Pastor Jack Miller and Todd Greenawalt officiating.

Interment will be at Bedford County Memorial Park, Bedford.

In of lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Fort Bedford Honor Guard: 3721 Business Rt. 220 Bedford, PA. 15522; or your favorite charities.

The family would like to thank Dr. Baer and staff, UPMC Health Care Providers. The VA for all their services. Jamie, Jack's caregiver. All great friends for their help, Glenn, Bob, and John.

Military rites accorded to the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.
