Mr. H. William Slack, 86, of Market St., Schellsburg, died Sunday, April 30th, 2017 at his home.
Mr. Slack was born in Schellsburg on Monday, June 9, 1930, the son of the late George and Elizabeth (Williams) Slack.
On December 20,1952, he married Phyllis A. (Adams) Slack. She preceded him in death on December 3, 2004.
He is survived by Son- Danny A. husband of Ginger (Rummell) Slack, Schellsburg; Daughter- Amy Jo wife of Tim Henderson, Schellsburg; Granddaughter- Stephanie wife of Eric McVicker, Schellsburg; Grandson- Adam Henderson, Philadelphia; Grandson- Joshua husband of Amanda (Higgins) Henderson, Schellsburg; Granddaughter- Alexis Hershberger, Bedford; Granddaughter- Addison Bond, Schellsburg; Granddaughter- Ella Bond, Schellsburg; Great Grandchildren- Mason & Erin McVicker and Jameis Gabriel. He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Gaye Slack and by his sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Leo Federline.
Bill served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He worked for 26 years as a foreman with Hedstrom Corporation. Bill was a member of the United Church of Schellsburg and a member of the Bedford American Legion Post #113. He was known to everyone as "Pap" and was an strong advocate for family values. Bill looked forward to visiting with his family; whether it be weekly on Saturday mornings for coffee or at the picnics that were held throughout the warmer months of the year, he was happiest when he could be with his loved ones. Bill was an amazing role model and a loving father & grandfather. He will be greatly missed.
A Graveside Service will be held at Schellsburg Cemetery at 2:00 PM on Sunday, May 7th, 2017 with Rev. Paul Claycomb officiating. Graveside military rites will be accorded by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard
Friends are invited to call on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg.
