Mr. Homer E. Emrick, Jr., 88, of Cortland Road, Alum Bank,  died at 8:05 AM, Sunday, March 18th, 2012 at Hollidaysburg Veterans Home.

Mr. Emrick was born in New Paris on Friday, August 3, 1923,  the son of the late Homer Emerick, Sr. and Emma (Diehl) Emerick.

He was first married to Kathryn M. (Nice) Emrick.  She preceded him in death on July 19, 1968.  Then on January 13, 1973, he married Anna Mae (Shaffer) Horne Emerick.

In addition to his wife he is survived by Son- Edward R. Emrick, husband of Crystal (Lantz), Bedford; Son- James M. Emrick, husband of Tina (Wills), Cumberland, MD; Son- Donald H. Emrick, husband of Teri (Hill), Centerville; Step-Daughter- Donna Clark; Step-Son- Earl Horne; Step-Daughter- Darlene McCloskey; Step-Son- Gary Horne; Step-Daughter- Connie Horne; Step-Daughter- Sandra Claycomb; Step-Son- Todd Horne; Sister; Ruth Miller, Schellsburg; Sister- Janet Coughenour, Fallston, MD; Special Niece- Deb "Sweetie" Suder, who was with him at his bedside; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.  Homer  was also survived by 13 step-grandchildren and 15 step-great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jesse, a  a step-grandson, Rouquet Clark,  four sisters, Betty Ickes, Grace Miller, Doris Suder and Alice Miller and by three brothers, Harry Emerick, Leroy Emerick and Donald Emerick.

Homer served in the Army during W.W. II with the 1017th Engineer Treadway Bridge Company.  He was a member of the 359th AAA S/L BN and a Lifetime member of the Schellsburg VFW Post # 4440. Homer was a farmer and was employed at R.E. Shaffer & Sons Plumbing in New Paris.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg with Rev. Richard Harter officiating and eulogy by Deb Suder

Interment will be held at  Schellsburg Cemetery, where graveside military rites will be accorded by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.

Friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the funeral home.
