In his younger days Landon was an outstanding athlete, holding several county records in football. In 1954 he was the leading scorer with 21 touchdowns for a total of 126 points in one season. In 2007, he in his undefeated teammates of 1954's class of Replogle High School were inducted into the Bedford County sports Hall of Fame.
Upon graduation, Landon served two years in the Army during peacetime in Germany. When he returned to the states he met and married Peggy. Landon's passion was farming and he would spend the rest of his life doing what he loved to do. He started out working as a hired hand for farmer in Salemville before purchasing a farm in Bedford Co. that would eventually become known as PegLand Farms. Together, Landon & Peggy worked side-by-side, putting their blood, sweat and tears into that farm until Peggy's passing. After her death Landon would tell you that he was completely lost without her. With so many memories surrounding him at the farm they built together and with his continued decline in health he sold the family farm last year. He moved to another farm just down the road and today his son's continue to carry on the farming tradition along with driving truck.
