Helen E. (Race) Hinson
September 22, 1928 — November 20, 2016
Mrs. Hinson was born in Lancaster on Saturday, September 22, 1928, the daughter of the late Robert Race, Sr. and Ann (Botzum) Race.
On February 17, 1946, she married Vance E. Hinson. He preceded her in death on January 10, 2015.
She is survived by Daughter- Linda D. wife of Phil Wehrung, Myrtle Beach, SC; Son- Robert William husband of Susan (Hillegas) Hinson, Alum Bank; Daughter- Joyce A. wife of Ashley Heiple, Alum Bank; Daughter- Ann C. Barker, Alum Bank; Sister- Doris Nightengale, Vero Beach, FL; Sister- Patricia Woermer, Lancaster; Sister- Dolly Stauffer, Lancaster; Brother- Robert Race, Jr., Willow Street. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
Helen was affiliated with the Manns Choice Church of God. She was a waitress at the Landmark Restaurant in Bedford for many years and previously was employed at Hamilton Watch in Lancaster. Helen was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend and she will be greatly missed.
A private funeral service will be held at a later date with interment at Schellsburg Cemetery.
