H. Eleanor (Swartzwelder) May

Mrs. H. Eleanor  May, 89, of Forest Ave., Bedford, died Thursday, May 5th, 2016 at Colonial Courtyard.

Mrs. May was born in Cumberland, MD. on April 6, 1927,  the daughter of the late Harold and Ada (Simons) Swartzwelder.

On May 29, 1951, she married Joseph May.  He preceded her in death on November 23, 2002.

She is survived by  Son- Robert husband of Brenda (Garland) May, Bedford and Grandchildren- Amanda & Robert.  She was preceded in death by two sons, Scott & Timothy and by two brothers, Joe & James Swartzwelder.

Eleanor was affiliated with the Bedford United Methodist Church.  She and her husband owned and operated  J & J Drillers for 49 years.  She was retired from United Telephone.  After her retirement, Eleanor was a homemaker who enjoyed reading, decorating & gardening and caring for her two special grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 11th, 2016.

Interment will be held at Woods Church Cemetery.

Friends are invited to call on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM and then again on Wednesday before the memorial service from 1:00 - 2:00 PM at the Geisel Funeral Home in Bedford.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Eleanor to Grane Hospice Care, 106 Zee Plaza, North Juniata Street,  Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
