Mrs. Hazel K. Mortimore, 86, formerly of Oppenheimer Road, Bedford, passed away peacefully, Saturday, September 27th, 2014 at Nancy's Personal Care Home, Osterburg.

Mrs. Mortimore was born in Martinsburg on Saturday, December 24, 1927,  the daughter of the late William M. and Pearl (Clapper) Huntsman.

Hazel first married Bruce C. Smith, Sr. on April 3, 1947. He preceded her in death on December 25, 1976.  She then married Kenneth Mortimore on June 27, 1981.  He passed away on April 3, 2008.

She is survived by  Son- Jack E. widower of  Linda (Imler) Smith, Friends Cove; Daughter- Patricia wife of  James E. Wertz, Bedford; Son- Bruce C. Smith, Jr. husband of  Sharon (Lesh) Smith, New Paris; Step Son- William Mortimore, Highspire; Step Son- John Mortimore, Harrisburg; Grandson- Matthew Smith, New Paris; Grandson- Jason Wertz, Bedford; Granddaughter- Julie Jones, Everett; Granddaughter- Michelle Diehl, Dover; Grandson- Michael Smith, US Air Force, Alaska; Brother- William G. Huntsman, Mechanicsburg; Brother- Clyde Huntsman, Kannapolis, NC; Brother- Dean A. Huntsman, Dallastown; Special  Nephew- Lee E. Huntsman, York. .  Hazel is also survived by seven great grandchildren, three step grandchildren, three step great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husbands, she is preceded in death by a great grandson, Mark Smith, three sisters, Mary Huntsman, Martha Fisher & Dorothy Zimmerman and by two brothers, Kenneth Huntsman & Roy Huntsman.

Hazel was a 1945 graduate of Bedford High School.  She was first employed as a telephone operator and then at Fairfoot Shoe Company for six years.  She then worked as a sewing machine operator for Hedstrom in Bedford for fifteen years until her retirement in August of 1981.

Hazel and Kenneth were members of the Chestnut Ridge Independent Fellowship Church and very much enjoyed attending the weekly services.  Hazel adored flowers and flower gardening.  She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

A funeral service will be held  at Chestnut Ridge Independent Fellowship Church, Fishertown at 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 2nd, 2014 with Pastor Daniel Oldham officiating.

Interment will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church Cemetery, Bedford.

Friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 4:00 - 8:00 PM  at Chestnut Ridge Independent Fellowship Church and again on Thursday from 1:00 - 2:00 PM at the church.
