Mr. Harry Miller, Jr., 87, of Miller Road, Schellsburg, died at 3:24 PM, Monday, August 29th, 2011 at Hollidaysburg Veterans Home.
Mr. Miller was born in Napier Township on Sunday, February 3, 1924, the son of the late Harry Leroy and Martha Jane (Evans) Miller.
On September 14, 1946, he married Margaret M. (Herline) Miller. In addition to his wife he is survived by Son- Gale E. husband of Diane (Iati) Miller, Churchville, NY; Daughter- Connie wife of Rodney L. Bartholow, Schellsburg; Son- Phillip L. Miller, Sr. husband of Tina (Calhoun) Miller, New Paris; Son- Leonard W. husband of Susan (Butterfuss) Miller, Schellsburg; Daughter- Annette Gaudette, Schellsburg; Son- Bernard J. Miller, Schellsburg; Brother- Clarence Miller, Schellsburg; Brother- Foster Miller, Schellsburg; Sister- Abigale Waugerman, Manns Choice; Sister- Virginia Gorga, Prospect Park; Brother- Robert Miller, Bedford; Sister- Carrie Thornton, Ohio. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, Corinne, Edward Jr., Chad, Rodney, Amy, Luke, Cole, Ashley, Phillip Jr., Shawn, Kaylin, Taren and Eden, and 14 great grandchildren, Ryan, Devon, Logan, Braden, Brittany, Natanael, Jaydin, Myia, Cora, Austin, Cordell, Angel, Phillip III and Nanette and by a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Louise, a grandson, Adam Samuel Bartholow and by two brothers, Nelson Miller and Lester Miller and by a sister, Bernice Oldham.
Harry served in the US Army during W.W.II as a Corporal. He entered the service on June 5, 1943 and was honorably discharged on March 2, 1946 after serving in the Rhineland (Germany) and Ardennes (France) regions of Europe.
Harry was a lumberman for McNeal Lumber Company as well as a dairy and beef farmer. He also drove the trucks the hauled the cattle to the marketplace. .
A Funeral Service will be held at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg, at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 3rd, 2011 with Rev. Richard Whetstone officiating.
Interment will be held at Schellsburg Cemetery. Graveside Military Rites will be accorded by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.
