Harold E. Wertz

Mr. Harold E. Wertz, 87, of Choice Campground Road, Manns Choice, died at 7:00 AM, Monday, February 17th, 2014 at his home.

Mr. Wertz was born in Manns Choice on Wednesday, October 20, 1926,  the son of the late Clarence and Pearl (Hillegass) Wertz.

On March 17, 1950, he married Doris L. (Hershberger) Wertz.  She preceded him in death on July 22, 2013.

He is survived by  Son- Dennis C. husband of  Mary (Rouch) Wertz, Meyersdale; Daughter- Diana L. wife of  Brian Blakey, Doylestown; Son- Charles "Chip" E. husband of  Wendy (Pehonsky) Wertz, Manns Choice; Son- Troy R. husband of  Julie (Lesh) Wertz, Manns Choice; Sister- Adrienne L. wife of  James Fisher, Bedford; Sister-in-Law- Vivian (Helman) Wertz, Manns Choice. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Goldie (Logsdon) Wertz, his brother Blaine Wertz, who died serving his country during WWII, his brother Floyd Wertz and his sister, Mildred Holler.

Harold was a member of the Manns Choice United Methodist Church.  He was a farmer and ran Choice Fur Farm for 33 years.  He was also employed a Rural Letter Carrier for 23 years in the Manns Choice area.  Harold, along with his wife, owned and operated Choice Campground. He was a member of the Bedford Moose Lodge #480, the PA Farmers Association, the Rural Letter Carriers Association, the Mt. Olivet Cemetery Association and was formerly a member of the Manns Choice School Board.

A Funeral Service will be held at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 25th, 2014 with Rev. Jeff Welsch officiating.

Interment will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Manns Choice.

Friends are invited to call on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the funeral home in Schellsburg.
