G. Lee Douglas McMakin

August 30, 1969 — May 6, 2011

Mr. G. Lee Douglas McMakin, 66, of Laporte Road, Alum Bank, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 6th, 2011, after a courageous fight with cancer.

Mr. McMakin was born in Quitman, GA on Saturday, August 26, 1944,  he was the son of the late Charles McMakin, Jr. and Frances (Rodgers) McMakin.

On August 30, 1969, he married Carol Ann (Harbaugh) McMakin.  She preceded him in death on October 28, 2004.

He is survived by  Daughter- Kimberly J. wife of  Joseph, Jr. Smouse, Claysburg; Son- Kevin L. husband of  Robin (Stern) McMakin, Bedford; Mother-in-Law- Doris Harbaugh, Alum Bank; Brother- Charles H. McMakin, III, CA; Brother- Carl McMakin, CO; Sister- Sharron Fielding, CA; Sister- Carol Saul, CA. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Zachary, Olivia and Siddiq Smouse and Addisyn and Jule McMakin. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, William Harbaugh

Lee loved and served the Lord and was a member of the Faith Brethren Bible Church in New Paris.

Lee was in the US Navy, serving during the Vietnam War and retiring after 20 years of service to his country.  After his military career, he was employed as a park ranger at Blue Knob State Park in Pavia.  Lee then owned and operated Lee's Locksmith.

He was known for his willingness to help others and his ability to tell a good story.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A Funeral Service will be held at the Faith Brethren Bible Church, New Paris at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, May 10th 2011, with Pastor James Espenshade, officiating.

Interment at Pleasantville Cemetery, where graveside military rites will be accorded by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.

Friends are invited to call on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Jack H. Geisel Funeral Home, Pleasantville.

Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Brethren Bible Church's Missionary Fund, New Paris or to the Bedford Sportsman's Club.
