George J. Schlagnhaufer III, VMD

Mr. George J. Schlagnhaufer, III, VMD, 67, of Benning Road, Berlin, died at 11:11 PM, Tuesday, December 9th, 2014 at Clearfield Hospital.

Dr. Schlagnhaufer was born in Hatfield on Friday, August 29, 1947, the son of the late George J. Schlagnhaufer, Jr. and Jane Carol (Howald) Schlagnhaufer.

He is survived by  Son- Erik C. husband of  Angela (Kreider) Schlagnhaufer, New Providence; Daughter- Gretchen M. wife of  Forrest S. Curran, Willow Street; Daughter- Rachel B. wife of  Stephen Cahill, Quarryville; Sister- Linda Diagiacoma, Reading; Sister- Joanne Berhardt, Warminster; Brother- Carl Schlagnhaufer, Julian; Sister- Lisa Schlagnhaufer, Reading; Companion- Pauline Will. He is also survived by five grandchildren.

George was a graduate of Penn State University with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine.  He was a retired veterinarian, serving the Lancaster, Somerset and Westmoreland Counties of Pennsylvania.  He was a member of the New Baltimore Sportsmen Club.  George was a loving father, brother, companion and friend and he will be greatly missed.

A Memorial Service will be held at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, December 16th, 2014 with Joe Itle, speaker.

Friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 3:00 - 7:00 PM at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg.
