Mr. George Blair Garman, Jr., 68, of New Enterprise was called Home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 22nd, 2015.
Mr. Garman was born in Hollidaysburg on Monday, September 9, 1946, the son of the late George B. Garman, Sr. and Madeline Doris (Gable) Garman.
On April 23, 1966, he married Josephine M. (Foor) Garman.
In addition to his wife he is survived by Son- George Blair Garman, III husband of Lisa (Weyandt) Garman, Osterburg; Son- Joel David Garman husband of Lori (Weyandt) Garman, New Enterprise; Four Grandchildren- Cameron, Madeline, Cayden & Garth; Sister- Nancy wife of Lester McClucas, York; Brother- James husband of Patricia (Weyant) Garman, Ohio; Brother- John Garman and friend Tonya, Osterburg; Brother- Joseph Garman, Osterburg. George is also survived by many nieces, nephews & cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son and a sister, Anna Marie Hall & her husband, Henry.
George served in the US Army for three years, spending 22 months in Germany as a Heavy Maintenance Engineering Specialist. After coming home, he drove a coal truck for 15 months. He spent the last 45 years working on the Paul I. Detwiler, Jr. Farm.
George enjoyed spending time at his camp in Cameron County. He enjoyed socializing with friends at the Butcher House and going with them on "Buggy Rides" on his John Deere Gator. George was a member of the Southern Cove Rod & Gun Club. He enjoyed hunting and time spent on Raystown Lake fishing with his friend Den.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. John's Reformed Church, Woodbury Pike, Loysburg at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 2nd, 2015 with Pastor David Meckley officiating.
At George's request, there will be no public viewing, but friends are invited to call on Saturday from 1:00 - 2:00 PM at the church in Loysburg.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of George to the Southern Cove Rod & Gun Club in care of Bob Kagarise.
