George L. Addington, Jr., 95, of Breezewood, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 13th, 2020.
Mr. Addington was born in Coeburn, VA on May 7, 1925, son of the late George L. and Maude (Hall) Addington.
On July 16, 1945 George married Bernice Mae (Sanders) Addington. She preceded him in death on July 29, 2014.
He is survived by Daughter- Karen widow of Douglas Potter, Breezewood; Son- Kenny husband of Lori Addington, Stewartstown, PA; Son- Kirby Addington, Breezewood; Grandchildren Charlene Eiswert, Danielle Nizer and husband Bryan, Jennifer Woods and husband Josh, Bruce Hill and wife Dana, Brian Addington and wife Hayley and Cory Addington; Great-grandchildren Michael, Ryan, Ciara, William, Mykala, Levi, Leo, Scarlet, Kellen, Venner, Cheyenne, Shawn, Liam, Nolan, Aiden and Kathleen; Great-great grandchildren Ever, Riley, Charlotte and Nova Mae; Sister- Billie Hamm, White Sulpher Springs, WV. and Dear Friend- Dale Dicke. George was preceded in death by his wife and brothers and sisters- Anna Lee, Daryl, Hubert and Pearl.
George served his Country in the U.S. Navy during W.W. II.
Mr. Addington worked in the coal mines in Virginia for 1 to 2 years before he moved to Baltimore and worked in a few steel mills there, he then became part of the Carpenters Union in D.C. Along with his wife Bernice they were entrepreneurs and owned and operated many small businesses.
George enjoyed horseracing, watching golf on television and he greatly enjoyed walking, it was nothing for him to walk 3 miles a day. George was a very talented woodworker. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Graveside Service will be held at Union Memorial Cemetery, Mench, East Providence Township at 11:00AM on Monday, December 21st.
