Gary W. "Slate" Burkett

Mr. Gary W. "Slate" Burkett, age 56, of Claysburg, died Monday, November 7th, 2011 at Nason Hospital, Roaring Spring.

Mr. Burkett was born in Roaring Spring on Thursday, December 23, 1954,  the son of the late Robert W. and Meriam L. (Corle) Burket.

He is survived by  Sister- Janice C. wife of  Ray MacIntyre, Alum Bank; Brother- Col. Alan R. Burket husband of  Colleen (Connelly) Burket, Culpeper, VA.  He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.

Slate was a member of the Pavia Reformed  Mt. Zion Church.  He was a 1973 graduate of Chestnut  Ridge High School.  He then served as a sergeant in the US Army Reserves from 1975-1981.  Slate was employed as a carpet installer for Champion Homes in Clarysburg for 15 years.  He was a lifetime member of the NRA and a member of the Oakwood Hunting Lodge in Potter County.

A Memorial Service will be held at Jack H. Geisel Funeral Home, Pleasantville at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, November 15th, 2011 with Rev. Ray Tanyer officiating.
