Mr. Gary T. Latterner, 52, of Milligans Cove Road, Manns Choice, died at 5:33 PM, Sunday, July 31st, 2011 at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Latterner was born in Altoona on Saturday, April 25, 1959, the son of the late William "Sonny" and Anita "Jean" (Radcliffe) Latterner.
On August 19, 2000, he married Elizabeth A. "Beth" (Bockhouse) Latterner. In addition to his wife he is survived by Step Sons- David C. Grant, Brandon L. Grant and Daniel T. Grant, all at home; Sister- Darlene Skrupa, Gallitzin; Brother- Mike Latterner, Cresson; Brother- Bryon Latterner, Gallitzin; Brother- David Latterner, Elmora. He was preceded in death by his brother, Chris Latterner
Gary was a 1977 graduate of Penn Cambria High School. He was proud of his service to his country, first in the US Army and then for 20 years in the National Guard, during which he was deployed in 2003 to Kosovo as a part of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Gary was employed as a corrections officer at the Smithfield State Correctional Institution in Huntingdon. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bedford. Gary was known as an outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, archery, fishing and 4-wheeling.
A Funeral Service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bedford at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 4th, 2011 with Pastor Ryan Viands officiating.
Interment will be held at Madley Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg.
