Francis J. Evans

Mr. Francis J. Evans, 86, of Market Lane, New Paris (Fishertown), died at 12:05 PM, Friday, March 15th, 2013 at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Evans was born in South Fork on Saturday, August 28, 1926,  the son of the late Frank and Susan Pearl (Costello) Evans.

On March 13, 1951, he married Ruth Y. (Hinderliter) Evans.  In addition to his wife he is survived by Son- Donald D. husband of  Carolyn (Banks) Evans, El Portal, CA; Daughter- Kathleen A. wife of  Franklin Sweet , Chantilly, VA. He is also survived by five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kimberly Evans, a brother, Dean Evans and by a sister, Faith Noon.

Francis was affiliated with the Alum Bank United Methodist Church.  He served in the US Army during both W.W.II and the Korean Conflict.

Francis was a 1957 graduate of Cambria-Rowe Business College in Johnstown.  He received his Bachelor's Degree from IUP and his Master's Degree from Towson State in Maryland. Francis was a retired high school business teacher and co-cordinator.   He was a member of the Bedford American Legion Post #113 and a past Commander of the Disabled Veterans of America.

A Funeral Service will be held  at Jack H. Geisel Funeral Home, Inc, Pleasantville at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, March 19th, 2013 with Rev. David Zona officiating.

Interment will be held at  Mt. Hope Cemetery, South Fork.

Friends are invited to call on Monday from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the funeral home in Pleasantville.
