Eugene was never a man to see a problem that could not be solved.  He was a hard worker, out of the box thinker, and all-round family man.  He loved bluegrass music, playing his banjo, peanut butter, his little dog “Little Bit”, and watching wrestling.  He had a knack for fixing electronics and owned his own business “ELT Appliance and TV Service” in Manns Choice for many years.

Eugene was born on November 29, 1936 in New Baltimore to the late Hilda (Hillegass) and Bert Turner.  He was their first-born child.  He was then followed by siblings, Arena (Turner) Bradley of Florida, Cletus Turner (Wilma) of Ohio, Roger Turner (Becky) of Florida, Harry Turner (Nadean) of Georgia, and Freeman Turner (Robyn) of Ohio.  He was preceded in death by his younger brother, Eldie Turner of Ohio.

Eugene met the love of his life, Nina (Hayhurst) Turner in 1955 on a blind date.  He won her heart with his striking baby-blue eyes and serenading.  Eugene and Nina married June 29, 1957.  Nina resides in Manns Choice.  Despite a promise Eugene made to Nina’s father, the two had their first child Jody (Turner) Felix (Tim) of Manns Choice, right away with four more children following; Don Turner (Patsy) of Everett, Tom Turner (Christina) of Bedford, Doug Turner of Florida and Jeanne (Turner) Hershberger (Dave) of Manns Choice.  Eugene was also blessed with many grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He passed along his love and knowledge of electronics to not only some of his children but also to some of his grandchildren.

Eugene was retired from the maintenance department at Windber Hospital.

Eugene went home with his Lord and Savior on July 26, 2017. A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 31, 2017 at the Manns Choice Church of God at 11:00 AM with Rev. Dan Oldham and Rev. Aaron Whetstone officiating.   Friends are invited to call on Sunday from 2:00 – 5:00 PM at the Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home in Schellsburg.  There will also be a viewing at the church on Monday from 10:00 – 11:00 AM.  Interment will be held at Dry Ridge Cemetery Association also known as the Trinity United Church of Christ Cemetery in Manns Choice.
