Eugene “Gene” H. Ickes, 79, of Valley Road, Schellsburg, passed away at home on Sunday May 1st.
Mr. Ickes was born in Pleasantville on July 30, 1942, son of the late Harry and Geraldine (Lehman) Ickes.
On November 7, 1963 Eugene married Patricia (Jones) Ickes and celebrated 57 years of marriage before her death on November 20, 2020.
Eugene is survived by son- Scott husband of Luz Ickes, Labelle, FL; son Samuel husband of Wanda Ickes, Alum Bank; Son-Shawn husband of Tonia Ickes, Bedford. Grandchildren Derek Ickes (Kerianna), Dustin Ickes (Jen), Julia Ickes, Evan Ickes, Mindy St. Onge, Olivia Waczkowski, Laura Kelley, John Shirk (Jennifer) and Jessi Shirk, 9 great grandchildren and Brother- Barry, Schellsburg, Brother-Robert “Dan”, Windber, Sister- Vickie, IL and Sister-Sherrie, New Paris. Eugene was preceded in death by granddaughter- Marina Ickes, brother-in-law Paul Breen, sister-in-law Louise Ickes, sister-in-law Connie Ickes and great-nephew Conner Ickes.
Eugene was a Mechanic at several Bedford County locations throughout the years and a logger at Ellis Claar Logging and retired from Corle Building Systems.
He was a member of the Depew Rod & Gun Club in Batavia, NY for several years where he met his best friend Trapper. You could usually see Eugene sitting on his front porch drinking coffee when it was nice out with his buddy sitting beside him.
Mr. Ickes enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to the local auctions and spending time with family.
Eugene “Pap” was a happy ornery guy who was liked and loved by many and will be greatly missed by all.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg.
A Funeral Service will be held at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg at 11AM on Thursday, May 5th, with Pastor Dan Oldham officiating.
A private burial will be held at a later date for Eugene and his late wife Patricia's ashes at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery.
