Mr. Emile R. Slick, 98, of Friendship Village, Bedford, died Monday, January 4th, 2016 at Donahoe Manor Nursing Home.
Mr. Slick was born in New Paris on Monday, December 10, 1917, the son of the late John and Lillie (Gordon) Slick.
On May 10, 1942, he married Zona M. (Weaver) Slick. She preceded him in death on February 17, 2012.
He is survived by Step-Son- John "Sonny" husband of Sarah (Clark) Stephenson, Sanford, NC; Son- Bryan F. husband of Pat (Jones) Slick, Marshville, NC; Daughter- Barbara M. (Slick) wife of James Royer, Mt. Joy; Brother- Sam Slick, Bedford; Brother- Charles Slick, Bedford. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Bradley Slick.
Emile was a member of the Wolfsburg United Methodist Church. He served with the US Marines during W.W.II. Mr. Slick was employed for 25 years at Bethlehem Steel in Johnstown. He also worked for his brother at Slick's Ivy Stone as a sous chef for several years. Emile was a wonderful father, grandfather, brother and friend and he will be missed.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, January 8, 2016 at Wolfsburg United Methodist Church with Pastor Beth Pyles officiating.
Friends are invited to call on Thursday from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 PM at the Louis Geisel Funeral Home in Bedford.
Interment will be held at Cuppett Cemetery, New Paris.
