Mrs. Elva J. Storrs, 96, of Homewood at Martinsburg, formerly of Bedford, died at 1:30 AM, Friday, October 25th, 2013 at the nursing home.
Mrs. Storrs was born in Cumberland Valley Township on Wednesday, May 9, 1917, the daughter of the late Charles W. and Maggie Ella (Nave) Deremer.
On September 30, 1935, she married Vance H. Storrs. He preceded her in death on July 25, 2001.
She is survived by Daughter- Ella May widow of Don Rose, Bedford; Daughter- Carol Jean widow of Donald Miller, Baldwinsville, NY; Daughter- Betty Lou wife of Tom Tencer, Montgomery TX; Son- Richard Paul widower of Mary (Rummel) Storrs, Attica, IN. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Shaffer and Mary Ringler and by two brothers, Edward Deremer and Eugene Deremer
Mrs. Storrs was employed first at Sylvania Company in Altoona and then as a seamstress at Lion Manufacturing Company in Everett for 33 years. She was a longtime member of the St. John's United Church of Christ in Bedford and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of B.P.O.E. Lodge in Bedford. Elva was an avid bowler and enjoyed cooking, her flowers and was an accomplished quilter.
A funeral service will be held at Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 30th, 2013 with Brady Plummer officiating.
Interment will be held at Bedford County Memorial Park.
Friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the funeral home in Bedford.
