Edward C. Mowry, 96, of Diehl Road, Manns Choice died at 12:10 AM, Friday, August 23, 2019 at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Mowry was born in Central City on January 31, 1923, son of the late Wilbert H. and Catherine (Corley) Mowry.
On April 16, 1962 Ed married E. Ferne (Slick) Mowry. She preceded him in death on March 7, 2003.
He is survived by Daughter- Debra R. Slick-Dietz wife of Robert Dietz, Bedford; Daughter- Carolyn M. Speicher, Manns Choice; Daughter- Linda C. Mowry, Manns Choice; Grandson- Edward Thomas Speicher; Sister- Betty Shippey, Manns Choice; Sister- JoAnne Mock, Bedford; Brother- James Mowry, Manns Choice; Sister- Janet Hillegass, Manns Choice and a number of Nieces and Nephews. Ed is preceded in death by Son- Mark, Grandson- Ethan, Brothers- Alfred, Earl, Harry, William, Donald, Wilbur and Eugene Mowry and Sisters- Nettie, Mildred, and Esther.
He was a Woodsman and Sawmill Operator as well as a Dairy Farmer. Ed retired from the Bedford Borough where he worked in maintenance.
Ed served in the U.S. Army as a Private First Class in World War II and Korea.
He was member of The former Pleasant View Mennonite Church.
Ed was an avid hunter and fisherman and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Friends will be received on Sunday, August 25, 2019 at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg from 2-4PM.
A Funeral Service will be held at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 26, 2019 with Laura Wiley-Cagle officiating.
Interment at Schellsburg Cemetery.
Military Honors conveyed by Fort Bedford Honor Guard.
