Mr. Edward P. Ayers, 75, of Bowser Road, New Paris, died at 6:55 PM, Monday, July 28th, 2014 at Golden Living Center, Johnstown.

Mr. Ayers was born in Baltimore, MD on Wednesday, April 26, 1939,  the son of the late Theodore and Okra (Cannon) Ayers.

On December 30, 1992, he married Eileen M. (Mickle) Rummel-Ayers.

In addition to his wife he is survived by Daughter- Angela Drake, Napierville, IL; Daughter- Robin Paul, Walworth, WI; Son- Edward "Chris" Ayers, Newville; Step Son- Paul Rummel, Jr. husband of  Frances (O'Brian), Bedford; Step Son- Jonathan husband of  Jenna (Bryson) Rummel, Nashville, TN; Step Daughter- Julie wife of  Keith Leppert, Alum Bank; the following grandchildren: Joshua Seumons, David Paul, Mikayla Paul, Jayden Paul, Corey Ayers, Caleb Ayers, Selena Rummel, Michaela Rummel, Nicholas Rummel, Xander Bowen, Gracie Rummel, Brian Leppert, Andrew Leppert & Jillian Leppert Sister- Dorothy Fuller, Manchester, MD; Sister- Sarah Penton, Manchester, MD.  He was preceded in death by a brother, James Ayers and a sister Betty Mickley.

Ed was a member Spring Meadow Family Worship Center.  He attended Carroll County High School and served in the US Army Reserve and the US Marine Corps from 1956-1961.  For 46 years, Ed was a truck driver, driving for various companies and retiring as an owner and operator of his own trucking company.  After his retirement, he passion was in Evangelism with the Outreach programs at the Bedford County Jail and Chalybeate Spring Ministries.

A Funeral Service will be held at Spring Meadow Family Worship Center, Quaker Valley Road, New Paris at 1:00 PM on Friday, August 1st, 2014 with Pastors Chris Clinger & Pastor Gary Boor officiating.

Interment will be held at  Mock Cemetery, Alum Bank.

Friends are invited to call on Thursday from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at Spring Meadow Family Worship Center, New Paris

Arrangements entrusted to Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg.
