Edna M. "Pet" Howsare, 98, of Colerain Township, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2020, at home.
Mrs. Howsare was born Aug. 20, 1921, in Colerain Township, daughter of the late William W. and Goetha (May) Cessna.
She graduated from Fort Hill High School in Cumberland, Md., in 1938.
In 1940, she married Fred Howsare; he preceded her in death on June 8, 1975.
Edna is survived by five children: Dave of Staunton, Va; Barb (Keith) Frederick of Springwater, N.Y.; Dan (Joan) of Bedford; Phil of Colerain Township, with whom she resided; and April of Colerain Township. She is also survived by her sister, Becky Wolfe; brothers: Lloyd, George, Lawrence and Wesley Cessna. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Dorothy Kuhn; daughter-in-law, Rachel Jane Howsare; sisters: Mary Martha and Dorothy Cessna, Joanie King; brothers: William, Clarence, Dale and Lee Cessna.
Edna was Grandma to 12 grandchildren: Ivan, Paul (Linda), David and Fred Kuhn, Kathryn Kuhn, Valerie (Jeff) Cotner, Ed, Jason (Betsy), Jeremy, Ben (Marissa) Entner, Brant Howsare and girlfriend, Jessica, and Ashley (Chad) Wissinger. She was great-grandma to Logan, Cody, Chase Wissinger, Jane, Samantha and Jimmy Kuhn, Katelyn and Molly Loucks, Samuel Cotner, Minerva, Odin and Vesta Entner.
Our Mom was a homemaker and always had a large vegetable and flower garden. She often said one of her favorite things to do was to can peaches. She took many bus tours and trips all over the United States. In her later years, she enjoyed painting and coloring in her books, listening to her Bible book, old hymns on YouTube and Perry Como records.
Edna was a member of the former Assembly of God Church in Rainsburg.
She was a wonderful mother and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Our family would like to thank everyone at Conemaugh Hospice for the support and care they gave our Mom for the past 1 1/2 years.
Friends will be received on Thursday, July 9, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Woods Church in Colerain Township.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 9, at 11 a.m. at Woods Church in Colerain Township with Father Scott officiating.
Interment at Woods Church Cemetery, Colerain Township.
