Mrs. Edith Jean Holland,94, formerly of Fishertown, died Monday, June 20th, 2016 at Rest Assured Living Center, Meyersdale.
Mrs. Holland was born in Yukon, on Thursday, November 3, 1921, the daughter of the late John Roy and Mary Jane (Martin) Horn.
On August 14, 1944, at the Bedford Presbyterian Church, she was married to Stanford Walton Holland by Rev. R.S. Caldwell. Mr. Holland preceded her in death on August 19, 2011.
She is survived by Daughter- Eleanor Curtis, Buffalo Mills; Son- Robert husband of Grace (Miller) Holland, Fishertown; Granddaughter- Pam Benton wife of Michael Whitfield, Bedford; Granddaughter- Pat Howsare, Bedford; Great Grandson- Tyler Benton, Littleton, CO. She was preceded in death by an infant son Stanford and a brother, Earl.
Jean graduated valedictorian from the Southampton School and was a member of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union (WCTU). She was also a member of the Bedford Presbyterian Church and she treasured the time she spent there. Jean was a homemaker who loved music, dancing, singing, people watching and traveling. She enjoyed spending her time cooking for her family and loved art and designing clothes. Jean's greatest pleasure was to be found in the time she spent with her family. She was a loving grandmother & friend and she will greatly missed by all who knew her.
The family would like to thank the amazing team of home health caregivers, especially Terri Adomnik, the staff at Home Nursing Agency's Adult Day Services and the staff at Rest Assured Living Center for the exemplary care given to Jean .
A funeral service will be held at Bedford Presbyterian Church, Bedford at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 25th, 2016 with Rev. Doug Friant officiating.
Interment will be held at Schellsburg Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call on Friday from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford and Saturday from 10:30 - 11:00 AM at the Bedford Presbyterian Church.
