Doris L. (Hershberger) Wertz

Mrs. Doris L. Wertz, 83, of Choice Campground Road, Manns Choice, died at 10:55 AM, Monday, July 22nd, 2013 at her home.
Mrs. Wertz was born in New Enterprise on Thursday, July 17, 1930, the daughter of the late Emmerett and Hazel (Harclerode) Hershberger.
On March 17, 1950, she married Harold E. Wertz.
In addition to her husband she is survived by Son- Dennis C. husband of Mary (Roush) Wertz, Meyersdale; Daughter- Diana L. wife of Brian Blakey, Doylestown; Son- Charles E. "Chip" husband of Wendy (Pehonsky) Wertz, Manns Choice; Son- Troy R. husband of Julie (Lesh) Wertz, Manns Choice; Brother- Eugene Hershberger, Bethel Park; Sister- Linda Vensel, Bedford. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Trudy Kay Wertz and by an infant sister
Doris was a homemaker and, along with her husband, owned and operated Choice Campground in Manns Choice. She was a 1948 graduate of Bedford High School and a graduate of the Cumberland Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. Dorie was an active member of the Manns Choice United Methodist Church where she was a youth leader and taught Sunday School. She was also a charter member of the Bedford Chapter of the US Military Mothers & Friends, Flight # 40.
A Funeral Service will be held at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 26th, 2013 with Rev. Jeffrey Welsch officiating.
Interment will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Manns Choice.
Friends are invited to call on Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the funeral home in Schellsburg.
