Mrs. Doris Kathryn Feather Suter, 90, of Grandview Ave, Everett, formerly of New Paris, went home to be with the Lord peacefully and warm in her own bed at 1:30 AM, Sunday, January 12th, 2014, surrounded & cared for by family, friends & clergy.
Mrs. Suter was born in Pleasantville on Monday, December 17, 1923, the daughter of the late H. Bruce and Grace (Barefoot) Feather.
On December 26, 1945, she married Jay H. Suter. Jay was a very loving and wonderful husband, father and friend. He preceded her in death on November 11, 2005.
She is survived by Son- James L. husband of Beverly (Holler) Suter, New Paris; Daughter- Rebecca J. Suter, New Paris; Daughter- Polly Suter wife of Brian C. Wells, Bedford; Grandson- Jamie L. husband of Anna (Boreland) Suter, Chesapeake, VA; Grandson- Jayson P. husband of Amanda (Cross) Suter, Bedford; Granddaughter- Christy Wells wife of Michael J. Collins, State College; Grandson- Mark B. husband of Crista (Oxenrider) Wells, Dallastown; 5 Great Grandchildren- Jacob & Ryan Suter of Virginia and Zachary, Austin & Hailey Wells of Dallastown; Sister- Sarah Jane Wentz, York; Brother- Col. Joseph A. husband of Laura Feather, Mt. Gretna; Sister-in-Law- Audrey Horne Suter, Colorado Spring, CO. Doris is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three sister-in-laws, Violet Suter, Dorothy Suter & Florence Suter Ickes and by two brothers-in-law, Glenn Ickes & Thomas Suter.
Doris was a member of the New Paris United Methodist Church. She worked from her home as a self-employed beautician. Along with her husband, she also owned and operated Suter's Orchard in New Paris. Doris was an excellent homemaker, fabulous cook and enjoyed reading, sewing, church and community activities.
A Funeral Service will be held at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 16th, 2014 with Pastor Doreen Griffith officiating.
Interment will be held at Fishertown Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call on Thursday from 9:00 - 11:00 AM at the funeral home in Schellsburg.
