Obituary
Donna Jane Hale passed away peacefully Monday, February 24, 2014 in Grand Prairie Texas. She was born in Kearney Pennsylvania on May 7, 1927 the daughter of the late Edith & Russell Fix. She married David “Pete” Hale in January 16, 1944.
She is survived by daughters Connie Snyder (Giles) of Leesburg, Florida; Susan Morris (Jeff) of Duncanville, Texas; grandsons, David Snyder of San Francisco, California; Steven Snyder (Sara) of Christiansburg, Virginia; Wade Morris (Ashley) of Midlothian, Texas; great-grandchildren Mallory and Jackson Morris of Midlothian, Texas. She is also survived by sisters, Darlene Long, Dixie Young of Bedford; and brothers Sherman Fix of Bedford, and Max Fix of Sterling, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband David, her grandson, Jeffrey Hale Morris, and four brothers.
She attended school at Broad Top and Defiance. She played basketball at the Broad Top School and her uniform number was seven. That was her favorite number and when watching sports, she always rooted for any player wearing number seven. One of her favorite players was the Texas Ranger outfielder David Murphy who was number seven.
She owned and operated a variety of businesses, including the Washington Coffee Shop and the Green Acres Motel in Bedford, the Surf Room in Everett, and the Tropical Palm Restaurant in N. Ft. Myers, Florida.
Her passion was cooking and food service. After she retired from her businesses she worked at Sam’s Club in Ft. Myers as a food product demonstrator.
In 2007 she moved to an assisted living facility in Tavares, Florida, where she served on the Resident Advisory Committee. She also participated in all the activities offered, including jewelry making, chorus, bingo, Wii bowling, horse races, ten pin bowling, kitchen band and all the other activities as they were offered. She recently moved to an assisted living facility in Grand Prairie TX.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 14, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford with Reverend Paul Claycomb officiating.
The family will be receiving visitors at the funeral home in Bedford on Thursday from 6 to 8 PM. and on Friday from 10 to 11 AM.
Interment will be at Bedford County Memorial Park, Bedford.
