Mr. Donald S. "Pee-Wee" Jones, 84, of East Pitt Street, Bedford, was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 15th, 2016.
Don was born in Bedford on Friday, April 29, 1932, the son of the late James "Jimmy" and Beatrice (Guyton) Jones.
In February of 1957, he married the love of his life, Mary Lou (Cober) Jones. In addition to his loving wife he is survived by sons, Mark, David, James & John; grandchildren- Michelle, Mary Beth, Jamie, JoAnn, Hunter & Derick and a sister- Mary Zorn of Akron, Ohio. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers,Tom, Robert & John "Jack".
Don was a 1950 graduate of Bedford High School, where he was a four-time district champ in wrestling and a one-time state place winner. After graduation, he served in the United States Navy during the Korean War conflict. Upon his discharge, Don returned to Bedford where he worked at the Bedford Springs for many years and then at Sears & Roebuck Company until his retirement. Don then became the owner/operator of the Acorn Book Company where he would restore and rebind books for dealer across the globe. He was an avid Pittsburgh Sports fan, who loved watching the Steelers, Penguins and Pirates.
Don was affiliated with St. John's United Church of Christ. Don was a loving husband and father who will be sorely missed.
A funeral service will be held at Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 19th, 2016 with Pastor Brady Plummer officiating.
Graveside services will follow at Bedford Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call on Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Geisel Funeral Home in Bedford.
