Donald P. Rose

Mr. Donald P. Rose, 79, of Egolf Road, Bedford, died at 2:50 PM, Thursday, October 27th, 2011 at his home.

Mr. Rose was born in Centerville (PA) on Monday, June 27, 1932,  the son of the late Paul E. and E. Blanche (Hite) Rose.

On November 3, 1956, he married Ella May (Storrs) Rose at St. John's Reformed Church in Bedford.  In addition to his wife, he is survived by son Kerry L., Largo (FL); son Derek C., husband of  Joann (Lefever) Rose, Mt. Airy (MD); and son A. Keith, husband of Kimberly (Schulze) Rose, Constantine (MI).  He has five surviving grandchildren, Jessica, Zachary, Matthew, Alexis and Elizabeth.
He is also survived by sister Doris, widow of George Crone, Ft. Ashby (WV); sister Norma L., wife of G. Edward Kaufman, Akron (OH); and mother-in-law Elva Storrs, Martinsburg (PA).  He was preceded in death by his brother, H. Dwight Rose.
Don was a 1950 graduate of Bedford High School and served overseas in the US Army during the Korean War.  He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Bedford and a member of the Bedford American Legion Post #113 for 57 years.  He accepted a position with Hartley National Bank directly out of high school and ascended to the position of bank president.  He retired in 1987 as Vice President of Mid State Bank.

An invitation is extended to family and friends to join in a Celebration of Life to be held at Homewood Spring House Estates, 150 Victoria Avenue, Everett (PA) from Noon - 3:00 PM on Saturday, November 5th, 2011.

A private interment will be held at Union Cemetery in Centerville at the convenience of the family.
