Donald Darle Long

Mr. Donald Darle Long, 78, of Christie Lane, Imler, died at 8:10 PM, Thursday, December 15th, 2011 at his home.

Mr. Long was born in Queen on Monday, December 26, 1932,  the son of the late Clair and Dorothy C. (Finnegan) Long.

On May 5, 1956, he married Ima Jane (Hershberger) Long. In addition to his wife he is survived by Son- D. Wayne Long, Imler; Son- Gary L. husband of  Donna (Lamborn) Long, Imler; Daughter- Deborah J. wife of  Donald A. Rightnour, NC; Son- Rodney L. husband of  Barbara (Wendt) Long, Imler; Son- Douglas A. husband of  Brenda K. (Emigh) Long, Imler; Daughter- Melissa A. wife of  Miles O. Edge, III, NC; Son- K. Matthew husband of  Lisa A. (Lafferty) Long, Imler; Brother- William  Walter, Claysburg; Brother- Elwood Walter, Jr., Queen; Brother- Dennis Walter, Queen; Brother- Steve Walter, Queen; Half Brother- Ronnie Long, Newry; Half Sister- Dawn (Long) Irving, Everett; Half Brother- Robbie Long, King. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Bob and Merrril and a sister, Sally.

Don served as a private in the US Army.  He was a member of the St. Pauls Church in Bedford.  Don was a lifelong diesel mechanic.  He started his employment at Spector Motor Freight, he then worked for many years at Cresson Ridge Diesel and he retired as self-employed mechanic.   .

A funeral service will be held  at Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 20th, 2011 with Pastor Howard Sloan officiating.

Interment will be held at St. Pauls Cemetery, where graveside military rites will be accorded by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.

Friends are invited to call on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123 or to the funeral home to defray the cost of the services.
