Mr. Donald E. Foreman, 90, of North Davidson Street, Bedford, died at 9:35 PM, Sunday, March 4th, 2012 at his home.
Mr. Foreman was born in Bedford Township on Saturday, March 12, 1921, the son of the late Ira L. and Cora (Dibert) Foreman.
On September 3, 1947, he married Pauline "Polly" (Boudoux) Foreman. She preceded him in death on July 13, 2010.
He is survived by Son- Allen Lee husband of Paula (Tew) Foreman, Rainsburg; Sister- Betty Louise Ake, OH; Grandson- Shane Allen Foreman, FL; Grandson- Chad David Foreman, Bedford; Grandson- Rusty Lee Foreman, Rainsburg. , and one great granddaughter, Jayda Diehl He was preceded in death by a brother, Maynard Foreman and by three sisters, Alberta McAfee, Ruth Hollisopple and Juliet Escelman
Don was a member of Village Church Assembly of God, where he was on the board for 23 years and served as treasurer for six years. He also was a former Sunday School teacher and lead the Royal Rangers Boys Group at the church for 30 years.
Don served in the US Army during W.W. II as a Tec 4 with the 543rd Engineer Boar and Shore Regiment Company D. He was in battles and campaigns in the South Pacific, including, New Guinea, South Philippines and Luzon. Don was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with 3 Bronze Stars, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon and the Arrowhead American Theater Ribbon.
Don was employed at Tempton Roller Bearing. He was also owner and operator of Foreman's Butcher Shop in Bedford. He retired from Hedstrom in 1985, working as both an air bender and a press operator. .
A funeral service will be held at Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 7th, 2012 with Rev. William Hazelette officiating.
Interment will be held at Bedford County Memorial Park. Graveside military rites will be accorded by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.
Friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the funeral home.
