Mr. Dion V. "Buddy" Hankinson, 82, of Juniata St., New Baltimore went to be with his beloved wife whom he missed dearly on Thursday, July 9th, 2015 at Conemaugh Medical Center, Johnstown.
Mr. Hankinson was born in New Baltimore on Friday, September 30, 1932, the son of the late D.H. "Nash" and Grace (Callahan) Hankinson.
On August 30, 1952, he married Betty M. (Snively) Hankinson. She preceded him in death on April 14, 2012.
He is survived by Son- Michael T. Hankinson, at home; Daughter- Carolyn J. wife of Willard Doric, Harrisburg; Daughter- Betty Ann wife of Kevin Quinn, Cincinnati, OH; Daughter- Joanne M. Hankinson, Johnstown; Daughter- Angela K. wife of Bill Taggart, Cincinnati, OH; Sister- Mary Stiffler, New Baltimore; Sister- Judy Allianiello, Timonium, MD; Brother- Bernie Hankinson, New Baltimore; Brother- Richard Hankinson, Vienna, VA; Sister- Margaret wife of Leonard Diehl, Manns Choice. Buddy is also survived by eight grandchildren, Brandey, Elizabeth, Lindsey, Kevin, Michael, Lacey, Matt & Mabel, and seven great grandchildren, Katherine, Isaiah, Raynah, Sonja, Devyn, Noelle & Olivia and by close friends, Bob & Norma Ferguson of York and Bernie & Harriet George of Manns Choice. He was preceded in death by a sister, Rosemarie Hillegas.
Buddy was a member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in New Baltimore. He was employed as a construction superintendent at the Luke Paper Mill and previously worked for George Construction & Yoder Construction both out of Cumberland, MD. He was a member of the Ironworkers Local #568 in Cumberland, MD. Buddy was a wonderful example of faithfulness, generosity, character and love to his children and grandchildren. He will be deeply missed.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, New Baltimore at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 13th, 2015 with Father Richard Tomkosky celebrant.
Committal will be held at St. Johns Cemetery, New Baltimore.
Friends are invited to call on Sunday from 2:00 - 7:00 PM at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schelleburg, where a vigil for the deceased will be held.
