Mr. Dewey D. Zimmerman, 84, of Bedford, formerly of Buffalo Mills, died at 1:20 PM, Thursday, July 31st, 2014 at Pennknoll Village.

Mr. Zimmerman was born in Hooversville on Saturday, July 12, 1930,  the son of the late Sampson F. and May E. (Housel) Zimmerman.

On January 14, 1956, he married Shirley J. (Sciranko) Zimmerman.  In addition to his wife he is survived by Daughter- Carol Sue wife of Charles Hardwick, Shreveport, LA; Son- Samson E. husband of  Kathleen (Murphy) Zimmerman, New Enterprise; Son- Daniel D. husband of  Lori (Callwell) Zimmerman, Manns Choice; Daughter- Lu Ann K. wife of  Clarence Clark, Bedford; Son- Kenneth A. husband of  Angela (Lewis) Zimmerman, Bedford; Sister- Beatrice Gardner, Bedford. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two infant brothers, three sisters, Kathleen Harbaugh, Doris Miller & Anna Belle Kipp and by three brothers, Jay Zimmerman, Claude Zimmerman & Clifford Zimmerman.

Dewey was a member of the Tulls Hill Bible Church and served in the US Army during the Korean War.  He was employed at Lane Enterprises in Bedford as a machine operator for 20 years and was a lifelong farmer.  Dewey was a former member of the Bedford County Farm Bureau and both the Bedford County and Pennsylvania State Draft Horse Associations .

A Funeral Service will be held at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg at 10:30 AM on Monday, August 4th, 2014 with Rev. Daniel Campbell officiating.

Interment will be held at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery,  Buffalo Mills.

Friends are invited to call on Sunday from 2:00 - 6:00 PM at the funeral home in Schellsburg.
