Derek Joseph McCormick, 36, of 19 W. 2nd Street, Everett, PA, passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at home.
Mr. McCormick was born on March 5, 1986 in Harrisburg, PA, the son of Patrick W. and Cynthia (Wagner) McCormick of Manns Choice.
Derek attended Bedford High School before enlisting in the U.S. Army. Derek served honorably for over 15 years to include a year and a half during Operation Iraqi Freedom. During that time the U.S. Army recognized him with numerous awards and medals, most notably his Iraq Campaign Medal with Star, Army Commendation Medal, and his Parachutist Badge from the 82nd Airborne. The military was Derek's true calling, he loved his country and the people he served with.
Derek was a loving Father and Husband. Derek was a kind and generous man. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone! He enjoyed riding Four wheelers and being outdoors. He was deeply loved by his family and friends and most of all his children. Best Dad ever!! His children meant the world to him!! Derek had a heart of Gold. He lived life to the fullest without fear! He was a quiet person but had a witty sense of humor and could brighten a whole room! He will be greatly missed by all!!
Along with his parents- Patrick and Cynthia, Derek is survived by daughters Piper K. McCormick and Olivia F. McCormick and son- Derek J. McCormick II all at home; maternal grandmother- Kay Frances Crissinger, Grantsville, MD; brother- Patrick "PJ" husband of Kaylee (Shomo) McCormick, Manns Choice; brother- Jeremiah husband of Brittany (Wight) McCormick, Hampstead, MD and nephews and niece- Jackson, Greyson, Kaden and Claire. He was preceded in death by his grandparents- Merle "Mac" McCormick and Frances Troutman, and John R. Wagner.
Family and friends may call on Monday, April 11, 2022 from 10:00AM to 11:00AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Bedford with a Funeral Service at 11:00AM with Pastor David Weinhold officiating.
