Mr. Dennis E. "Tiny" "Big Den" Hillegass, 50, of Frazier Homestead Road, Schellsburg, passed away Monday, August 15th, 2016 at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Hillegass was born in Roaring Spring on Monday, May 23, 1966,  the son of Annette (Tew) Hillegass of Pennknoll village and the late William Hillegass.

On November 16, 1997, he married Kimberly J. (Layton) Hillegass.  In addition to his wife he is survived by his mother and  Daughter- PVT 2nd Class Kristen Marie Hillegass, Fort Leonard Wood, MO; Son- William Franklin Hillegass, at home; Step Son- Shawn B. Layton, Fishertown; Step Granddaughter- June Layton; Brother- William Michael Hillegass, Pleasantville.  He is also survived by his dog, Angel and two cats, Boots & Muffin.

Dennis was a 1985 graduate of Chestnut Ridge High School and was affiliated with the Chestnut Ridge Independent Fellowship Church.  He was employed as a fork lift driver for Pomps Tire in Bedford.  Dennis was life member of both the Alum Bank Community Fire Company and the Shawnee Valley Volunteer Fire Company.  He was currently serving as the Deputy Chief for SVVFC and had served a total of 31 years between the two firehouses.  He was a very loving husband, dad, son, brother and a beloved friend to many.

A Funeral Service will be held at Chestnut Ridge Independent Fellowship Church, New Paris at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 19th, 2016 with Pastor Dan Oldham officiating.

Friends are invited to call on Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Chestnut Ridge Independent Fellowship Church.
