Dennis Carl Shippy

Dennis Carl Shippy, 64, of New Paris, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2020, at Altoona Hospital.

Born Nov. 22, 1955, he was the son of the late Carl Shippy and Dorothy (Weyant) Shippy.

He was married to Jolene F. (Stoltzfus) Shippy for nearly 40 years.

Dennis enjoyed fishing with his two grandsons, Shawn and Logan, at Shawnee State Park. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Desert Storm from 1990-1991. Dennis attended the Manns Choice Church of God, where he was lovingly known as grillmaster "Chef Dennis" for church picnics. He and Jolene appreciated seeing the beauty in the world by traveling to new places.

Dennis is survived by two daughters: Nicole L. Shippy and Nita J. Hobbs. Also surviving are his sisters: Denise Smith, Kathy Nalisnik, Linda Lopez, Wanda Truax and Dana Lightner.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, July 25, with a memorial service at 11 a.m. at Manns Choice Church of God, 6150 Allegheny Road, Manns Choice PA 15550, with Pastor Aaron Whetstone officiating. Dennis will be laid to rest at the Schellsburg Cemetery. A reception at Manns Choice will follow the services.
