Mr. Delbert M. "Whitey" Glessner, 80, of Baltimore St., New Baltimore, died at 1:15 AM, Thursday, December 22nd, 2011 at Somerset Hospital.

Whitey was born in Allegheny Township on Saturday, May 23, 1931,  the son of the late Manfred and Vera (Leonard) Glessner.

On November 21, 1953, Clare T. "Molly" (Brooks) Glessner.  She preceded him in death on October 16, 2008.

He is survived by  Son- Gilbert J. husband of  Kathy L. (Darr) Glessner, Mount Pleasant; Daughter- Charlotte M. wife of  Jack C. Gumbert, Berlin; Son- Jeffrey E.  Glessner and girlfriend Sherri R. Will, Friendens; Son- Paul E. Glessner, Berlin; Son- Thomas E. Glessner and girlfriend Mildred, Cropton, MD; Daughter- Tammie S.  wife of  Dustin Ritchey, New Baltimore; Sister- Margaret "Toots" Maddy, New Baltimore; Sister- Mae Kalbach, Laurel, MD; Sister- Mary Welsh, Schellsburg; Sister- Rita Suttmiller, Enid, OK; Brother- John  Glessner, Berlin; Sister- Carol Hillegass, Manns Choice; Sister- Helen Miller, Manns Choice.

He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, Jaquelin M. wife of Harry Hoover, Jeremiah J. Glessner married to the former Lisa Schrock, Jack C. Gumbert II, Joel C. & Corey J. Gumbert, Carly J. wife of Luke Twarek, Elijah, Ian, Tyler, Cody & Dakota Glessner, Brandy M. Wertz and Bryce & Brook Ritchey and six great grandchildren, Joseph Twarek, Grant Hoover, Jordan Hoover, Olivia Glessner, Claire Twark and Noah Glessner.  He is also survived by his beloved dog and companion Oscar.

Whitey was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in New Baltimore.  He served in the US Army during the Korean War.  Whitey worked in heavy bridge construction and a carpenter for W.R. Dickerson, Inc., in Youngstown, PA for over 30 years.  He was the oldest member of the New Baltimore Sportsman Club and he was also a member of the Central City American Legion and the Central City VFW.  Whitey enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing pinochle and spending time with his family.

A Funeral Mass will be held  at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, New Baltimore at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 24th, 2011 with Father George Jakopac celebrant.

Interment will be held at St. Johns Cemetery, New Baltimore.

Friends are invited to call on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg, where a vigil for the deceased will be held at 8:30 PM conducted by Deacon Tom Beaver.
