Mr. Dean I. Lohr, 74, of Sides Road, Manns Choice died at 2:21 PM, Tuesday, February 28th, 2012 at Pennknoll Village.
Mr. Lohr was born in Napier Township on Saturday, January 15, 1938, the son of the late Earl B. and Darl M. (Frazier) Lohr.
On August 21, 1958, he married Shirley (Shippey) Lohr. In addition to his wife he is survived by Daughter- Betsy wife of Michael Baronak, Buffalo Mills; Brother- Leyn husband of Jean (Sarver) Lohr, Schellsburg; Brother- Dick husband of Kay (Gramling) Lohr, Schellsburg. He is also survived by one grandson, Michael Dean Baronak. He was preceded in death by a brother, Brady Lohr.
Dean was a member of the First Christian Church in Everett. He served in the US Navy aboard the USS Nantahala. While serving his country, he sailed the Atlantic, North Atlantic and the Mediterranean Seas and visited Switzerland, Brazil and Europe. Dean was employed as a machinist at Kennametal for 36 years. He was an active part of the American Field Service, a group that hosts foreign exchange students. Dean was an avid hunter and a gentleman farmer, enjoying the raising of beef cattle the most. He was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather, whose pride and joy was his grandson Michael Dean.
A Funeral Service will be held at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 2nd, 2012 with Rev. Robert Robertson officiating.
Interment will be held at Bedford County Memorial Park. Graveside military rites will be accorded by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.
Friends are invited to call on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the funeral home.
