David Hunter Mickey, 65, of Alum Bank passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at home surrounded by his loving family after a brief battle with liver cancer.

He was born on November 15, 1956 in Bedford, son of the late John C. Mickey Sr. and Lois (Shinholt) Mickey Rose, surviving of Bedford.

On April 30, 1983 David married Marcia K. (Mickey) Mickey.

Along with his wife- Marcia he is survived by son- Troy R. husband of Jennifer (Smith) Mickey, New Paris; son- Ryan D. Mickey, Alum Bank; two granddaughters who he loved dearly, Kayla A. Mickey, Altoona; Aliyiah G. Mickey, Alum Bank; mother- Lois Mickey-Rose, Bedford; sister- Nancy J. wife of Charles Robison, Altoona; two brothers- Timothy A. husband of Nancy Mickey, Bedford; Thomas C. Mickey and companion Patti, Fredrick, MD and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. He is also survived by step-sister- Linda wife of John Suter, New Paris; step-brothers- Larry Rose and fiancé Jennifer Brown, Imler; Les husband of Joyce Rose, New Paris; brother-in-law- Charles McLaughlin, Bedford and sister-in-law- Dottie Mickey, New Paris. Dave was preceded in death by his father and step-father Harry S. Rose, sister- Barbara J. McLaughlin and brother- John C. Mickey Jr.

Dave attended Bedford High School. After trying a couple different jobs, he settled into truck driving. Dave started working the dock at W.C. McQuaide Trucking in Johnstown and then got into driving for others. Due to health issues he had to quit working and go on disability. He traveled the highways with two special guys Randy Hunter and Troy Brown who was there for him the last few days.

He enjoyed going to Pleasantville in the mornings meeting up with several guys from the community to have coffee and talk. He formed many new friendships over the years with these guys.

Dave enjoyed hunting and fishing and being outdoors, he also enjoyed big trucks, mopars, playing cornhole and throwing horse shoes. He also greatly enjoyed attending the Alum Bank car show every year.

Dave “Dirt” was a hardworking, kind-hearted and devoted husband, father, pap, son, brother and friend who was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, April 29, 2022 from 6-9PM at the Jack H. Geisel Funeral Home, Inc., Alum Bank.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 11:00AM Jack H. Geisel Funeral Home, Inc., Alum Bank with Pastor Kevin Davis officiating.

Interment at Bedford County Memorial Park.
