Mr. Clair W. Morgart, 92, of Rainsburg, died Sunday, May 17th, 2015 at Colonial Courtyard.
Mr. Morgart was born in Bedford on Monday, September 25, 1922, the son of the late Richard B. and Irene Sadie (Bingham) Morgart.
On June 14, 1947, he married Amy Louise (Smith) Morgart. She preceded him in death on January 17, 2007.
He is survived by Daughter- Sharon L. wife of William McFadden, Gettysburg; Daughter- Susan D. wife of Richard "Jerry" Cessna, Rainsburg; Son- John W. Morgart, Rainsburg; Sister- Janet Crownover, Indiana; Sister- Martha Mock, Wisconsin; Sister- Helen Wigfield, Cumberland, MD. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Bryan, Jerry, Luke, Amanda, Kylee & Rachel, and nine great grandchildren, Zachary, Olivia, Sara, Grace, Liza, Wyatt, Mallory, Isabella & Faith and by family friends, Gloria Diehl and the late Ronald & Donald Young. He was a preceded in death by an infant brother, Robert, two brothers, Raymond & Paul, a sister, Mary, a half brother Charles "Bussie", two half sisters, Ione & Becky.
Clair was employed first with Harris Boyer (Bunny Bread) and then as a toll collector on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. He served in the US Army during W.W.II with the 649th Engineers Topographic Battalion. Clair was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed playing. While stationed in London, England during W.W.II, he played 3rd base for the CBS Clowns from 1943-1944. After coming home, Clair played for the Friends Cove and Rainsburg teams. He was an outdoorsman, loved to hunt and was an expert gardener, specializing in black raspberries. Clair was a loving and kind husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and he will be greatly missed.
A funeral service will be held at Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 21st, 2015 with Pastor John Bennett officiating.
Interment will be held at Woods Church Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be accorded by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.
Friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM and on Thursday 10:00 - 11:00 AM at the funeral home in Bedford.
