Christine "Chrissie" (Zidar) Amershek

Mrs. Christine "Chrissie" Amershek, 97, formerly of Jerome & Johnstown, died at 9:40 PM, Wednesday, September 17th, 2014 at Homewood at Martinsburg.

Mrs. Amershek was born in Pittsburg, KS on Monday, July 23, 1917,  the daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine (Moskon) Zidar.

On October 8, 1938, she married Louis F. Amershek.  He preceded her in death on October 14, 2006.

She is survived by  Daughter- Saundra L.Thomas, Everett; Daughter- Alana, wife of  Marco Johnson, Alexandria, VA; Granddaughter- Taunya, wife of Richard delos Reyes, Alexandria, VA and many beloved nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by the following siblings: Anna Zidar, Joseph Zidar, Alex Zidar, Stanley Zidar, Olga Klucik & Ernest Zidar.

Mrs. Amershek was a homemaker and a member of the St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Bedford.  She enjoyed cooking and baking, was an accomplished fisherwoman and loved keeping up with her correspondences.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Bedford on Monday, September 22, 2014 at 10:00 AM with Father Charles Amershek & Father Donald Dusza co-celebrants.

Committal Service will be held at the St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery, Bedford.

Friends are invited to call on Sunday from 2:00 - 5:00 PM at the Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford, where a vigil for the deceased will be held.
